Our Story

Practice Purchased

In 2008 the practice was purchased by Dr. Parchewsky. The practice was founded by Dr. Carol Wappel, a well known restorative Dentist. Terra Dental has always focused on being a cutting edge leader in the industry.

Growth of the Office

After purchase of the clinic Terra Dental experienced an expansion of services to include IV Sedation, Full Mouth Rehabilitation, Dental Implants, Botox, Invisalign and Cosmetic Veneers.

Team grows

With the growth of Terra Dental, more team members and Dentists were added. These include Dr. Arden Young, Dr. Amy Yoo and Dr. Amanda Kryvenchuk.

Office Renovations

In 2015 Terra Dental underwent a major expansion and renovation to make one of the most technologically advanced dental clinics in Canada. The clinic expansion opened in 2018 and was featured on Global and CTV News for its treatment of sleep apnea.

Dr. Mike Parchewsky
Dr. Mike ParchewskyDENTIST
Dr. Parchewsky obtained a four-year Honors Physiology degree from the University of Alberta followed by a 5 year D.M.D dentistry degree with Distinction from the University of Saskatchewan. Dr. Parchewsky has completed postgraduate training at the University of Florida and the University of San Antonio Health Science Center in Texas. Recently, Dr. Parchewsky has completed an Oral Surgery Fellowship at the Montefiore College of Dentistry in New York. He has also been awarded a Fellowship from the American Academy of General Dentistry.

Dr. Parchewsky provides complete dental care to his patients including all facets of general dentistry including Implants, wisdom teeth extractions, Intravenous Sedation and other oral surgical procedures. Dr. Parchewsky is currently involved with research projects into implants and bone grafting. Dr. Parchewsky is involved with several organizations that provide volunteer dental and surgical procedures in third world locations such as Columbia, Costa Rica, Peru and Nicaragua.

In his spare time, Dr. Parchewsky enjoys wakeboarding, snowboarding, golf and hockey.

Dr. Arden Young

Dr. Young grew up in Edmonton, AB, where her grandpa was her first (and favourite) dentist. She graduated from University of Alberta Dentistry in 2010, before moving to Vancouver for a year of General Practice Residency, working in the Vancouver hospitals and abroad. After a few years of private practice in Vancouver, Dr. Young decided it was time to come home to Alberta, and made the move to Calgary. Dr. Young is excited to join the team at Terra Dental. She enjoys family and paediatric dentistry, and aims to make her patients feel comfortable in the dental chair. She is passionate about continued learning, and has tailored much of her continuing education towards the art of root canal treatment.

Dr. Young loves being close to the mountains, spending a lot of her spare time trail running around Canmore, as well as running all the river pathways in Calgary. When she isn’t running (which isn’t THAT often), she might be found reading, skiing, cycling, or spending time with her family and friends.

Dr. Amy Yoo, DMD

Dentistry was engraved in Dr. Yoo’s genes ever since I was born. Her Father was a dentist and she spent most of her childhood in his practice watching him treating patients and asking millions of annoying questions. She always thought everything at the dental office was so fascinating. Dr. Yoo remembers telling her parents she would be a dentist when she grew up and she thinks they only half believed me.

Dr. Yoo graduated from the University of Saskatchewan in 2004. Soon after graduating, she invested lots of time focusing on cosmetic dentistry and full mouth rehabilitation. She found it was so rewarding to see people beaming with smiles that they didn’t know they had. As she treated patients she was surprised to find out how many people suffer from jaw joint disorder called Temporo-Mandibular Joint Disorder (TMD). She was determined to learn more about TMD and how to treat it. After much success in treating people with TMD, Dr. Yoo began to wonder, “wouldn’t it be great if our children don’t suffer from TMD as much as we do now?” It was then that she dove into learning about orthodontics, orthopedics, myofunctional therapy, and sleep apnea. Dr. Yoo now feels better knowing that there’s a brighter future for our children and that I can be the one to help them.

Dr. Yoo also is the mother of two wonderful children, loves eating french fries and travelling to places where her family can walk and explore.

I can smile with complete confidence! I can’t now imagine ever being concerned about appearing in photos. It’s just been a new lease of life. Thank you.
